June 5, 2009 - Watercolor artists paint Blairsville, Georgia scenery

Atlanta artist Gail Novak recently led a watercolor "retreat" in Blairsville, Georgia. During the three day event, the artists stayed at Misty Mountain Inn in Union County where they enjoyed the hospitality of owner Peg Shaw.

The watercolor artists also visited several businesses and historic sites to practice their painting techniques. A favorite location was the Mountain Life Center (Mock Butt House). Several nice looking watercolors were created on that day

Instructor Gail Novak has worked with watercolor medium for the past 15 years. Her work can be seen at the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Center and Burton Gallery in Clarkesville. Ms. Novak has received numerous awards from shows and competitions throughout the Southeast. Her subject matter is varied, but her objective is always to create a painting that visually conveys the actual feeling of a scene.

Blairsville, Georgia is a great destination for artists, writers, families, honeymoon couples, and nature lovers. As tourism grows, more and more people discover the beauty and friendly atmosphere of Union County. Blairsville, Georgia is a great place to visit - and even better - a place to call home.
