Volunteers for the Handicapped put on a good Christmas Party

December 11, 2009 - Volunteers for the Handicapped host Christmas Party in Blairsville, Georgia

Union and Towns Volunteers for the Handicapped recently hosted a Christmas party at the First Baptist Church of Blairsville, Georgia. A highlight of the occasion was a visit from Santa Clause. He carried in a big red sack filled with presents for over 40 consumers!

Santa gave out really nice gifts including everything from a complete set of Creedence Clearwater Revival CDs to warm winter coats and jogging outfits. Everyone had a great time unwrapping the gifts and seeing what "Santa" had brought.

President Annette McTaggart welcomed everyone to the event. Over fifty people enjoyed a delicious luncheon, ice cream, cookies, piano music, Christmas carols, good company, and a chance to sit on Santa's knee.

The Union and Towns Volunteers for the Handicapped are a great group of people. Among other things, they provide opportunities for field trips and other social events including picnics and dances throughout the year.

The Union and Towns Volunteers for the Handicapped meet on the 1st Monday of every month (except January) at 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Blairsville. Everyone is welcome! The group is actively seeking new volunteers for a fun and meaningful experience.
