October 2, 2010 - Trackrock Hammer-In is all about knives

The Trackrock Hammer-In is a fun and informative event where knife makers gather to show their wares and demonstrate knife making techniques. Young people get a chance to make their very own knives and visitors enjoy the music, interesting displays, shopping, and beautiful scenery.

During the Union County event, Adam Thomason worked on his very own knife with help from seasoned knife maker Randy Scott. Jacob Tkalet, Mike Brown, Dennis Bradley, and many others had metal to the grinders and blades in the forges.

The event is held every spring and fall at Trackrock Campground in Blairsville, Georgia. Host Frank Alexander works closely with organizer Carl Rechsteiner and local knife maker Dennis Bradley to ensure a safe and exciting show.

Demonstrations include everything from forging and file work techniques to scrimshaw and leather work. The knife exhibits include miniature knives, hunting knives, daggers, Bowie knives, folders, and many other examples of fine metal working.

The next Trackrock Hammer-In is scheduled for spring of 2011. For more information, please call Frank Alexander at Trackrock Campground.
