April 11, 2007 - St. Francis of Assisi in Blairsville, Georgia holds ground breaking ceremony
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville, Georgia recently held a ground breaking ceremony for their new Community Building. The day was bright with sunshine, spring blossoms, and hopes for the future.
Father Richard Wise welcomed everyone to the special event. He said, "This building will be used for service. The ground that we break today is sacred."
Father Wise went on to bless the construction site, "All-powerful and all-merciful Father, you have created all things through your Son and have made Him the unshakable foundation of your kingdom. Through the gift of your eternal wisdom, grant that the undertaking we begin today for your glory and our own well-being may progress day by day to its successful completion. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen!"
Then to much applause, Father Wise scooped up a shovel full of Georgia red clay. The ceremony ended with the parishioners and guests singing a closing hymn. It was a memorable occasion for all involved.
