November 14, 2008 - Kid Friendly Panther Pub opens in Blairsville, Georgia
The Panther Pub recently opened for business in downtown Blairsville, Georgia. The kid friendly restaurant is the perfect place for hungry teenagers, lunch dates, super bowl parties, and casual business meetings.
At Panther Pub, dogs, burgers, and favorite side dishes are freshly made, including treats like homemade hotdog buns, "real" French fries, and "real" onion rings. "Pre-Game Favorites" such as nachos, wings, taco salads, chicken fingers, and fried mushrooms are available along with Philly Steak sandwiches, soups, chili, and ice cream. Delicious homemade dipping sauces are included with most menu items.
The décor at Panther Pub is worth a visit and everyone is invited to come in and look around. Union County High School sports memorabilia and other "Panther" collectables decorate the walls of the new Blairsville restaurant. Owner Joan Drake says, " Union County High School brought us the team photos and other "Panther" items. People have brought in uniforms, souvenirs, and mementos. Last week, two little boys ran in and give me their soccer trophy. They were so excited when I put it up on the mantle." (Panther Pub has a fireplace, six big-screen TVs, a sunroom, a patio, and lot's of team spirit.)
Manager Tina McAlear explains the Panther Pub philosophy, "Our goal is to do things differently. We serve really good, freshly prepared food. We even peel and slice the potatoes and onions for our fries and rings. Even though it may take longer, it is worth it for the taste. Our servings are large so be prepared to share."
Joan and Dave Drake have been serving up delicious meals to family, friends, visitors, and the residents of Union County since 1991. Besides the Panther Pub, they also own and operate Antonietta's Italian Grill & Bakery (formerly Cobb's Mill Restaurant) and run a catering business. Chef Dave also wears another hat as Chef Instructor for the Culinary Program at North Georgia Technical College .
Panther Pub manager Tina McAlear has 21 years of experience in the restaurant business. Joan says, "We are glad to get Tina. Dave met her at North Georgia Technical College Blairsville campus where her son Luke is one of Dave's culinary students."
