Women's Day Out Fundraiser

Hospice fundraiser raises money and awareness in Blairsville, Georgia

The women of RE/MAX and their generous sponsors recently held the 3rd Annual Women's Day Out at NGTC's Blairsville Campus. The event raised money to support various programs at Georgia Mountain Hospice. The fundraiser also helped promote awareness about the benefits of having this service available in times of need.

Marie Lindsay gave a short overview of North Georgia Mountain Hospice. The workers serve many purposes. From giving the primary caretaker a break, to helping loved ones cope with bouts of depression, hospice professionals can be compared to a ray of light in a dark night.

The 3rd Annual Women's Day Out was a joyous, fun occasion in Union County. Organized by Pat Macey and the ladies of Enotah RE/MAX, the event featured an elegant lunch catered by Sherry Busteed and friends. Male servers supplied guests with delicious chicken salad, pasta, fruit cups, and brownie shortcakes.

Things progressed quickly with Amelia Brickey acting as Mistress of Ceremonies. There were fashion shows, vendors, door prizes, songs, and video presentations. Guest speaker, Sister JoAnn, answered questions about life from the prospective of a modern day nun. She shared many humorous antidotes that kept the guests laughing.

Near the end of the entertaining program, one of the local RE/MAX ladies, Mindy Combs sang an emotional song, "One More Day with You." Laughter turned to tears as photos of family members flashed across the big screen, part of a slideshow produced by web designers at MTI for the occasion. Not a dry eye was left in the house.

Participating realtors and other sponsors of the event surprised Pat Macey with a beautiful bouquet of red roses for her dedication and hard work in organizing the event. Pat says, "I do this because Hospice was there when my dad was dying. I couldn't have made it without them."

That is the usual response from everyone that has contact with Georgia Mountain Hospice. For more information or to give a donation please contact Georgia Mountain Hospice or Enotah RE/MAX in Blairsville, Georgia.
