October 20, 2007 - Kennel Kruise in Blairsville, Georgia raises $3000

The Kennel Kruise Motorcycle Pledge Ride at Copperhead Lodge in Blairsville, Georgia successfully kicked off the Humane Society's "Waggin' Wheels" campaign which is dedicated to raising funds for a new transportation vehicle for the animals.

Twenty five riders were led on a three state adventure by Copperhead Lodge owners Tom Glaze and Dave Turcotte and Kennel Kruise 2007 (KK07) organizers, Andrew and Carol Domino. "We were excited that we had so many riders and appreciate their generosity. Over $3000.00 was raised for this worthy project," stated Carol, who is a Union County Humane Society Mountain Shelter (HSMS) volunteer and board member.

Tricia Spear, HSMS volunteer and HSMS Thrift Store Manager, gathered volunteers for the event and also organized a very successful silent auction. Harley Davidson T-Shirts from around the world were auctioned and raffled along with many other motorcycle and animal related items.

Many thanks go to the animal lovers who were sponsors for KK07. United Community Bank, Copperhead Lodge, Harbin Cleaners, Cherokee County Cycles, Freddy's Lounge, North Georgia Hearing Aid Specialists, Connie Duncan, Bariki Hair Salon, Brodi owners Michael Dickins and Barry Brown (who designed and produced the graphics), and Janice Boling (who designed and donated the website).

The HSMS Waggin' Wheels Campaign is featured in the BRMEMC October electricity billing with an insert designed by HSMS Board member Sue Wood. A safe and dependable vehicle is needed to replace the ten year old van that is currently in use. HSMS transports animals and staff to outside adoptions, vets, other no-kill shelters, and spay neuter facilities.
