Kenneth Drew Kluth

August 26, 2010 - Mr. Kenneth Drew Kluth of Blairsville, Georgia

Mr. Kenneth Drew Kluth (1959-2010) was responsible for designing and building one of Union County 's favorite attractions, the Misty Mountain Railroad. Ken also led the 2:00 p.m. tours since 2000 when the Misty Mountain Model Railroad officially opened. After his marriage to Pia McGill, the 2:00 p.m. tours became a true family affair with the boys often helping with traffic and assisting visitors.

Over the past 18 years, Ken built most the custom-made replica buildings in the 4,000 square foot display.  The Union County Historic Courthouse was the first replica building he created while completing the mountains of North Georgia (that are the foundation for the display).

Ken also brought Superman from Gotham City to protect Blairsville and the cities of North Georgia.  Ken's service in the US Navy inspired the "Go Navy" banner in the display's Atlanta section. Both Ken's knowledge of the museum and his uncanny sense of humor were appreciated by one and all.

Kenneth Drew Kluth, stepson of Charles Griffin, worked along side Mr. Griffin to make the Misty Mountain Railroad into America 's largest O-gauge train display. Ken Kluth was a favorite with visitors at the train museum. He was an upfront, kind person and a lot of folks will really miss him!
