May 27, 2011 - The Humane Society’s Mountain Shelter Blairsville Thrift Store opens its doors to the public on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at its new location. The address is 125 Wellborn Street, located across from Carl & Ray’s Antiques and Early Bird Emporium (a block from Town Square, formerly the Napa Auto Parts Store).

Manager Tricia Spear, staff, regular volunteers, and loyal customers have been working almost around the clock for over a month to get things ready for opening day. Tricia offers a special thanks to Harrison Garner. She says, “This young man has volunteered every day for over a month to help get the store ready. Harrison and all of the volunteers have made things happen.”

The location is very convenient for downtown shoppers and offers a spacious showroom with several departments including books, clothing, home decor, and more. There is also plenty of free parking! Regular volunteers are always welcome and donations of clean, new and used items are currently being accepted.

Proceeds from the Mountain Shelter Thrift Store help support the local Humane Society animal shelter. (There is also a store in Hiawassee.) Remember to spay and neuter your pets!
