May 7, 2010 - Fabric Center participates in Quilting Across North Georgia

Evelyn's Fabric Center and Quilt Shop became England for a few days during this year's 5th Annual Shop Hop. Owner Evelyn Payne played her part as Queen by wearing a crown and waving to her subjects. Tea anyone?

North Georgia Visits the World was the theme for the recent 2010 Shop Hop - Quilting Across North Georgia. An official passport allowed holders to participate in the festivities.

Shoppers from Union County headed out to follow the assigned route, get their passports stamped at each location, collect free gifts, and find all kinds of unique quilting products. Most of all, they were inspired to start new projects! Seven fabric and quilting shops from Ellijay to Hiawassee and Dawsonville to Dahlonega participated in the shop hop. If you missed it this year, look for new passports in 2011.

Owner Evelyn Payne says, "It's a lot of fun. The theme this year was Quilting the Holidays All Year Through. Our holiday was Christmas, we even decorated a tree." Featured were holly prints, poinsettias, and other red and green 100% cotton fabrics.

The Fabric Center , along with six other quilting shops, participated in the shop hop. Shoppers visited each store on the route and hopefully purchased seasonal fabrics at each stop along the way. There were prizes and free give-a-ways throughout the event.
