Caroline Glenn helps with decorations on the Blairsville Square

Caroline Glenn saw a need and acted. With Christmas just around the corner, decorating the Blairsville Square became top priority. Caroline went around to local businesses and requested donations. Candy canes, giant suckers, flowers, toy soldiers, and even a life-sized sleigh soon appeared.

Over 30 Union County businesses gave money and moral support. Caroline dug deep into her own pockets to make-up the remainder of needed funds. She even purchased a couple of large items and loaned them to the cause. Caroline says, "My goal is to start a community tradition of decorating the Historic Courthouse Square every Christmas. Hopefully we can start planning in August."

Caroline adds, "There are lots of repairs that need to be done on the fuse boxes and electrical systems. Many of the old lights are burned out and need to be replaced."

Caroline is hoping to form a committee of people that will volunteer ideas, time, and elbow grease. Many individuals and groups have expressed an interest in decorating the downtown area for the holidays.

The Christmas Decorating Committee will work closely with Mayor Conley and the Blairsville City Council. Caroline says, "Mayor Conley is very supportive and is anxious to extend the Christmas decorating project into future years." With new decorations added yearly to the inventory, it won't be long until Downtown Blairsville becomes a Christmas wonderland.

Caroline owns and operates Early Bird Emporium which is located just off the Blairsville Square on Welborn Street . She is active in the community and works hard to make Blairsville a better place.
