June 19, 2010 - Gail Brehm and NGTC Alumni host vintage hat show in Blairsville, Georgia
My Hats Off to You and everyone at NGTC! The recent Blairsville Alumni fundraiser was presented by Gail Brehm and featured an array of beautiful, vintage hats!
Gail says, “I have collected vintage clothing and hats for around twenty five years. My mother was a snappy dresser and always wore a hat. She had one particular hat that I loved. It was a wonderful clip hat from the early 50’s with little fabric blueberries. Sadly, it didn’t survive the heat and humidity of southwest Florida.”
Gail continues, “In the early 90’s I came across another one. BINGO! I was stung by the collection bug. And not just for hats, but for clothing, too. I now have over 300 outfits dating from the late 1700’s right on up to 1969. I stared doing shows fifteen years ago after years of research. I hope that you enjoy my collection as much as I do.”
Guests enjoyed an interesting slide show presentation, tea, pastries, and the vintage hats. Gail’s display ranged from purple velvet Victorians to fancy wedding hats. Thanks to the sponsors – United Community Bank, Ingles Grocery, The Flower Garden, Blairsville Home Depot, Total Recovery Paint & Body Shop, and BI-LO.
