Ribbon cutting at Granny's Cottage in Blairsville, Georgia

A Blairsville Union County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting was recently held at Granny's Cottage in Blairsville, Georgia. Attendees and Chamber Ambassadors enjoyed the luncheon which was catered by Bubba's Restaurant. Everyone watched as Fred J. Bauknecht carved a beautiful bear with his chainsaw. It was an interesting demonstration.

Specializing in "hand crafted log furniture" and other unique items, Granny's Cottage is owned and operated by Colleen and Tom Mangifesta.

The shop sells quality merchandise including Amish furniture from Lancaster , Penn. , Beanpod Soy Candles (made in the USA ), Bundt Cake Candles in various fragrances, handmade quilts by Donna, floral arrangements, chainsaw bear carvings, and quality outdoor furniture.

The log furniture is very popular. Mangifesta says, "Beds come in all sizes. There is even a bunk bed with a full size bottom and twin top."

Most of the handpainted home accessories are done by local Union County artists. Granny's Cottage sells beautiful one-of -a -kind items made by talented local craftsmen and craftswomen!

Colleen and Tom have five children. Katie, attending college in West Palm Beach; Tony, a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida; Will, living in Lawrenceville; Joe, who works for UPS; and Chris, an eight grader at Union County Middle School. The Mangifesta family also includes 2 golden retrievers, Dixie and Buddy.
