October 14, 2010 - Thanks Bluegrass Fans!
The Hole in the Wall Restaurant owner Mark Cox and Misty Mountain Innkeeper Peg Shaw recently used part of the proceeds from the 2010 Bluegrass Festival to purchase soup for the Union County Food Pantry.
Ninth District Service Center Assistant Ann Sullivan says, “We need to fill the shelves before Thanksgiving and this donation of Progresso Soup will really help. The Food Pantry is really low on supplies, and donations are greatly appreciated. Thanks to the SouthEastern Bluegrass Association and their many, many fans!”
A Feed the Food Pantry drive is scheduled for October 30 th during the Hometown Halloween around the Square event. Collection boxes will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. at the intersection of the Square and Wellborn Street so don’t forget to bring non-perishable items! Please help make the 2010 Hometown Halloween about giving back to the community as well as a time of fun, games, and treats.
Food that is most needed includes tuna helper, Chef Boy RD, boxed cereal, canned corn, bagged rice, macaroni and cheese dinners, peanut butter, jelly, instant potatoes, and kids' snacks.
