March 20, 2010 - Congratulations to Ken Iron Horse and Edna Good Hart
Edna Good Hart and Ken Iron Horse's wedding was not your average walk down the aisle. They were joined together spiritually as husband and wife with a Sacred Ceremony, traditional Blanket Wedding, and Spring Equinox Celebration on March 20, 2010.
The couple and their wedding guests participated in several important ceremonies. Ken and Edna said an opening prayer with pipe to honor the Creator and ask for blessings on the wedding. The Cedar Ceremony was held to give thanks to the Creator for all the blessings of the past year and to ask for future blessings. The White Stone Ceremony was held to cleanse the self of negative spirits and begin a new path free from old burdens.
Ceremonial circles were outlined with cornmeal and both ceremonies honored the Creator. The wedding party and guests were smudged with sage and were invited to participate although photos were not allowed during the actual ceremonies. Honored Minister Jerry Spirit Hawk led the ceremonies.
Everyone enjoyed the songs and drums of Women of Heart and flute music by Keith Davis, Bruce Blaidsdale, and Jerry Spirit Hawk. After the wedding, guests were treated to a traditional feast including the three sisters - corn, beans, and squash. There were also beautiful and delicious wedding and groom's cakes. Congratulation to the newly wedded couple - may the Creator bless you and give you much happiness in your present and future life together.
