October 3, 2010 - First service at Dillard Chapel in over 50 years
Everyone is welcome at Dillard Chapel where the first service in over 50 years was held on October 3rd. Reverend Hubert Legg says, “I am pleased with the turn out. We have had homecoming at Dillard Chapel in Blairsville, Georgia but this is the first worship service in over 50 years.”
Fifty people came to sing, worship, and pray at Dillard Chapel Church on this memorable occasion. Rev. Legg preached a good sermon about the importance of being saved. He asked everyone to feel free to do as the Spirit led. He said, “If the Spirit leads you to shout, feel free to shout. At Dillard Chapel, we are free to worship the Lord.” Everyone was glad to be a part of the heartwarming worship service.
Hubert Legg was called to preach in 1958. He has been pastor of several Baptist churches in Union County including Bunker Hill, County Line, Harmony Grove, and Cooper’s Creek. Rev. Legg has also been pastor of Churches in Smyrna, Marietta, Kennesaw, and Acworth. He was born and raised in Union County.
Dillard Chapel fell into disrepair in the 50’s and a pole barn was constructed for shelter during homecomings. In the late 80’s volunteers rebuilt Dillard Chapel and have continued to maintain the building ever since.
Sunday school starts and 10:00 a.m. and Sunday morning Worship Service starts at 11:00 a.m. Hope to see you at Dillard Chapel in Blairsville, Georgia on Sunday morning!
