Blairsville Cinema offers more than a movie
By Janice Boling
December 24, 2010 - Blairsville Cinema recently helped get movie fans into the Christmas spirit with several free showings of Polar Express (featuring Tom Hanks). Many younger children were treated to their first viewing of a movie in a real theater. What a special memory!
After the movie, visitor Sara Beth Waters of Canton, Georgia drew the winning tickets for several great door prizes. Jonathan Jones of Morganton, Georgia won a new boy’s bicycle. The winner of the girl’s bicycle was Tamara Parker of North Carolina. Jennifer Sanders of Blairsville won a beautiful teddy bear.
Blairsville Cinema is located at 38 Backyard Lane between Blairsville and Young Harris in Union County. Owners Linda and Donald Lingerfelt welcome everyone to the newly remodeled cinema where new releases open every Friday.
The Blairsville Cinema is family orientated and can host parties, groups, and special showings. The free showings of Polar Express are just one way that the Lingerfelts have given back to the local community. For more information, please call Linda or Donald at (706) 745–1001. September 3, 2010 - What If at Blairsville Cinema on Friday, September 10th
Jenkins Entertainment and Pure Flix Entertainment are proud to announce the theatrical release of the acclaimed feature film, “What If…”
The Christian movie, “What If” is coming to Blairsville Cinema on September 10th. The new movie is directed by Dallas Jenkins and stars Kevin Sorbo, Kristy Swanson, Debby Ryan, and John Ratzenberger.
What If tells the story of Ben Walker (Kevin Sorbo), fifteen years after leaving his college sweetheart Wendy (Kristy Swanson) and his calling to be a preacher in order to pursue a business opportunity. Now with a high-paying executive gig, a trophy fiancé, and a new Mercedes, he hasn't even considered a family nor felt the need to set foot in a church in fifteen years.
Of course, God has other plans. In the tradition of “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “The Family Man”, What If is a story about finding your true purpose in life.
Advance screenings of the film, as well as the online trailer, have generated significant buzz. Movieguide’s Ted Baehr gave it four stars, and pastors such as James MacDonald of Harvest Bible Chapel in Chicago and Dr. Erwin Lutzer of Moody Church have said that the movie is “high impact, profound, thought-provoking,” and “a powerful reminder that God is with us.”
Executive Producer Jerry B. Jenkins, author of the Left Behind series, says, “This is not only the best film we’ve made as a company, but it’s got the strongest and most explicit message of faith.”
Director Dallas Jenkins says, “We worked hard to make a film that not only had a strong faith message, but also had a level of quality and craftsmanship that would appeal to all moviegoers.”
A heartwarming movie, What If is a great opportunity for families, youth groups, and churches to see a clean movie with a message. There won’t be a dry eye in the house when the credits start rolling at the end of the movie. Why not mark your calendars and plan on an evening at the newly remodeled Blairsville Cinema? It will be good for your soul!
